Small art studio [10m^2]
The brief was to design and build a comfortable art studio with good natural and artificial light. The constraint was to stay within the council’s maximum footprint and height of a backyard shed.
The building shell is made of insulated timber walls and floor frames on a concrete stump footing with a steel purlin roof. The exterior back and side walls and the roof are clad in colorbond corrugated steel. Three large double glazed windows supply enough natural light. Reclaimed cedar timber was used for the front wall cladding and the window frames. The ceiling spotlights are true colour dimmable leds.
